Propagation

PROPAGATION

I was needing some boarder bushes that will grow tall and thick. We planted these in our front hedge bed. These grow fast and thick. Not sure what they are called, but easy to grow.
Tools needed are hand held pruning shears, knife, pointed screw driver, and plywood board.
Using a plastic garbage bag and the pruning shears, get cuttings from top and edges of the bush.
About 10 to 12 inches. You will need around 50 to 75 cuttings. Try and fill the bag.

Place plywood on a level waist high sturdy surface. I used the back of my pick-up truck with the tail gate down. Get the cuttings and grab one at the top. Then with the other hand. pinch and strip off the leafs, leaving one or two at the top.

Then lay the stripped stem on the plywood. Take the knife or razor and cut the stem about six to eight inches long at a 45 degree angle.

Repeat until all are done. Bundle these together and go to the soil with the screw driver. I ran the water the whole time I was getting the cuttings done. Sick the screw driver into the soil and put the cutting into the whole. Some will dip the ends into a rooting powder. This helps with the rooting process. Repeat sewing these close together for space.

Run the water for at least two hours to get the moister level to very wet. The water at least an hour every other day. Also it is better if this is in the shade.
